Refreshing 2011 while Reminiscing 2010
RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ – In preparation for the second leg of the GSSL Super League, we completed our fourth week of preseason with intensity and a full field squad match. In spite of our solid team base, new additions were also made to the team to reinforce what has already proven to be one of the top contenders in the state of New Jersey.
The week began with an intense two and a half hour practice on Tuesday night. The players were hoping for this to be the last of the conditioning sessions. Even though four weeks of conditioning have gone by, there are still legs in the team that need some catching up to do.
Wednesday was a day that introduced new faces to the team. Young fresh talent went under trial as they opened the night in a scrimmage against Englewood AC Milan, a Division A team from the Garden State Soccer League (names of the new players will not be disclosed until the additions are made official). The match was cut short by a light outage at the end of the first half; the final score was 5-0. The new talent proved to be solid both in the defense as well as in the attack.
The team finished up strong on Sunday by playing a full 11-on-11 squad match. Talent was found in every corner of the field making this a fun, fast, goal packed scrimmage. Standout of the match was Bryan Zorilla, which earned him his first Player of the Week honors.
Reminiscent of last year are the videos posted in our newly created YouTube Channel, http://youtube.com/unitednationsfc. Special thanks to our own Nicolas Gonzales for the great video editing. Here is a taste of what you can see at our channel:
